Frequently Asked Questions

We meet at 3488 Fairlight Drive which is on the corner of Fairlight Drive and McCormack Drive at 10:30am, Sunday Mornings.
2. How do I get there?
Please visit the map on our website or click here for directions on Google Maps™.
3. Where should I park?
We have a large parking lot on site.
4. Where are the church offices?
Our church offices are located in the church building at 3488 Fairlight Drive. The office doors are the first set on the left upon entering the parking lot.
5. How long is the service?
The service starts at 10:30am and ends around 12 noon.
6. Why do churches have a time of music and singing?
Christians have always seen music & singing as a means of engaging the emotions and heart as we pray to God, give thanks to God, focus on God and seek to experience God. At Westside we hope that the time of music is deep, meaningful and God honoring. Feel free to sing along or listen as you feel comfortable.
7. Will there be something to eat/drink at the service?
We have a time after the service around the coffee tables called "fellowship time". Please feel free to grab a coffee and mingle with the church community.
8. How should I dress?
Most people at our service are dressed casually, and comfortably - particularly during the summer.
9. Will there be someone to help me find my way around?
We know that visiting a new church can feel intimidating and maybe even uncomfortable. Our goal when you visit Westside is to make you feel welcomed. We will have greeters who can assist you with whatever questions you may have. We also have a info desk where you can find a helpful person and brochures on the church and various ministries.
10. Are there kids and youth activities?
We have a wonderful kids program. Children ages 3-11 just take a quick left before the auditorium and you won't miss the doors that lead to the Kids Church area. The children are dismissed to Kids Church after the music and singing so bring your kids in with you to the first half of the service.
We also have a wonderful nursery program for children ages 0-2 with adult supervisors that will give you a card with a number on it in case they need to get a hold of you during the service.
Here is the information for our weekly youth programs for grades 4-7 and grades 8-12. Our students aged 12+ are encouraged to be a part of the entire Sunday morning service as we believe this promotes family health.
11. Will the workers be able to contact me if my child needs me?
If there are any issues that arise and the nursery workers need to contact you then the number that is on your nursery card will flash up on a LCD screen (that is fixed to the wall just beside the project screen on the stage) to let you know they need you back at the nursery.
12. How do I know the children’s ministries are safe?
We realize that leaving your children with strangers is often unnerving. Our friendly children’s workers have all had a background screening and undergone training. We also try to keep the ratio of children’s workers to kids as low as possible.
13. How can I get involved?
There are many different areas you can be involved in at Westside Church. Please e-mail the church office here or visit the info desk on Sunday morning to find out more.
14. What Bible translation is used in the service?
Typically, the New International Version (NIV) is what we use on Sunday mornings. Occasionally, we will be reading from the New Living Translation (NLT).
15. What is unique about Westside Church?
We strongly believe that church is not a building, but a community of people. This means we treat people not as commodities, but as friends and family. Accordingly, we work hard to get people involved in areas they are passionate about rather than pigeonholing them in areas that the staff is passionate about – which would only wear people down and burden them with guilt.
We also put a lot of time and effort into the music and preaching on Sunday mornings. We try our best, as we work with God, to foster a sense of inspiration during the service.
16. What does the name “Pentecostal” mean?
The Pentecostal movement places special emphasis on a direct personal experience of God through the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The term Pentecostal is derived from Pentecost, a Greek term describing the Jewish Feast of Weeks. For Christians, this event commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the followers of Jesus Christ, as described in the Book of Acts, Chapter 2. We believe our demonination reflects the same kind
of spiritual power, worship styles and teachings that were found in the early church. We are also directly affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.
17. Would I be able to receive a newsletter about upcoming events in the church?
You can receive information from our church office by phoning us at 306.384.0646, emailing us here or by picking up a visitor bulletin at the information desk on Sunday. Lastly, you can click here for our church Calendar of Events.
If you have any other questions or comments, please feel free to contact our office by phone/email OR come by and join us for an inspiring service on Sunday mornings at 10:30am and ask a Pastor, greeter or the person behind the information desk then.
